McQueen breaks records in NY

NEW YORK — The Metropolitan Museum of Art says its recent exhibition of costumes by the late designer Alexander McQueen was among its top 10 most-visited shows.

"Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" attracted 661,509 visitors to the museum's Costume Institute, making it the Met's eighth most popular exhibition in 141 years.

It closed Sunday after the museum extended the exhibition by one week. The museum also added viewing hours daily for members and late hours until midnight on the last weekend.

The exhibition joins the list of other Met blockbusters, including "Treasure of Tutankhanum" in 1978 and a 2010 Pablo Picasso exhibition.
