New York, NY – (February 15th, 2012) – MARCHESA designer, Georgina Chapman and co-founder, Keren Craig presented their Fall 2012 collection today in a salon-style show at The Plaza’s Palm Court. The collection, inspired by aspects of religious art and iconography, as seen through William Adolphe Bouguereaus’s 1878 painting, A Soul Brought to Heaven, juxtaposes a heavenly, angelic aura with darker pieces, such as sharp silhouettes in laser-cut leather patterns. Wing-like embroidery and feather embellishments in pale shades of cream and blue contrast with beaded skeleton body suits in smoky shades of noir. Sweeping skirts in blood red and gold lamé punctuated the show’s dramatic finale.
Marchesa partnered with iconic footwear designer, Christian Louboutin to create custom footwear and accentuated looks with pieces of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Also debuting on the runway was the brand’s Fall 2012 handbag collection, featuring an array of jeweled clutches and minaudieres designed to complement the ready-to-wear collection.
In attendance were celebrities and Marchesa fans including Stacy Keibler, Bar Refaeli, Petra Nemcova, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Olivia Palermo, Taylor Momsen and Rachel Zoe, all of whom mingled in the Fiji lounge backstage following the show.
