Unfortunately there seems to be a huge amount of young designers in Russia that are underfunded and lacking encouragement in the fashion industry. The young designers are saying they are struggling to break into the country’s fashion circles, which are still ruled by Soviet-era big wigs. It’s pretty sad that this huge community of young designers lack the ability to create designs simply because fabrics arent available to them. Though Russia has access to Western fabrics, ideas and inspiration it’s fashion industry is way below it’s European counterparts such as Milan or Paris.
Should the Russian government provide funding for fashion designers? What do you think?
