The Cannes Film Festival can be a 10 day long 24/7 party. Even though business gets done, it's business mixed with a heavy dose of dinner and daily cocktails. our good friend from Denmark Micheal Kiilerich is a fitness expert that has approached fitness and the human body, with the study and precision of a scientist. He opened a crossfit studio in Cannes. Crossfit Cannes is a shining little  antithesis to all the cocktail hours and rich French food of Cannes. We met up with Micheal at the studio and his students were comprised of people from around the world.  We took the class and it was physically intensive but Micheal is really careful to make sure that it's also safe. This year at the Cannes Film  Festival the coolest hotel was definitely Hotel 3.14. It’s a trendy boutique hotel with an even trendier crowd and interior design so original it looks like a living photo shoot. Planet Fashion coverage began on May 18th  daytime with the premier of Madagascar 3,  with Jada Pinkett, Chris Rock, and Ben Stiller. A brief segment was shot about Carol S. Miller Bags as a fashion tie-in because the couture beach bags are made in Madagascar! Later Planet Fashion covered the Sean Penn event for Haiti. Escorted by Super Model Petra Nemcova, Penn raised 1.3 million Euros for the devastated island nation. Also at the red carpet affair was Eva Longoria, Harvey Weinstein, Jessica Chastain, Michelle Rodriguez, Ben Stiller, and Gerard Butler. Next up on May 19th  Planet Fashion was media partner for an event by Richard Nillson and real estate Partner Sir Richard Branson, at their luxury property, the renowned Villa Oxygen. The event was called the space galactic party in honor of Branson’s space galactic voyages.  Uk Swimwear brand Beach Junkie displayed its summer 2012 collection in a beautiful fashion show, with fair-trade beach bags by Carol S. Miller. Winter wear line Goldberg from Holland also displayed a collection. The atmospheric water generator EcoloBlue was featured at the event; space age water for a space age event. May 20th was the Annual Cannes Film Festival Anniversary Party, with special guest Jean Du Jardin from the artist. On May 21st Planet Fashion did behind the scenes coverage at Spas Des Stars in the elite luxury hotel The Carlton. Spa Des Stars is home to celebrities during the festival. They are given complementary treatments and services all week, and have press junkets inside the spa! May 22nd  Planet Fashion covered the premier of Brad Pitt’s film “Killing them softly”. Looking great Pitt discussed the film at a quick press conference. The Cannes Film Festival for me is a mix of luxury, glamor, manic amounts of meetings, organizing, filming and parties. Its a perfect mix of love and hate because for all the fun that is had, there is also an equal dose of stress and exhaustion. Its always like that and this year was no different.

I came with my camera girl Elsa, a ex-model who is a true free spirit. We got great of coverage of Brad Pitt, who was there with his new film "Killing Them Softly" and Sean Penn who had an event for Haiti. We also got coverage of the best events, Chopard, Dior, Di Grisogono, and the Space Party at the Richard Nillson, Richard Branson Luxury Property, the Villa Oxygen. Elsa and I also covered the Monaco Grand Prix, which is a story for later.

We had some amazing sponsors during the trip, among them were Beach Junkie swimwear by Kayleigh Ann, a gorgeous young  entrepreneur and socialite from the UK. Her brand Beach Junkie is a representation of modern, young luxury. We also were fortunate enough to represent a brand called Ecoloblue. Madagascar 3 is the 5th DreamWorks film to be presented at Cannes and follows the European adventures of the 4 wildest animals from Central Park. In our first meeting with them, they escaped from the New York City zoo and ended up on a distant island. In Madagascar 2, they left this island and made their way to Africa. Now in Madagascar 3 Europe’s Most Wanted, as they try to return to New York, they wind up in… Monte Carlo. With Animal Control on their tails, they find the perfect hide-out, a traveling circus.

It was fitting the film debuted in Cannes which is a mere half an hour from Monte Carlo, where the story takes place!

The premier featured the cast (Ben Stiller, Jada Pinkett, David Schwimmer, Chris Rock) and daily parties on an extra long dock stretching out into the cotes d'azure.

We thought that the Madagascar party dock was the perfect place to do a segment about a cool new hand bag designer that we've found who is making beach bags in Madagascar! The bags are made by luxury hand bag designer Carol S. Miller. A percentage of the sales of the hand made beach bags support a charity in Madagascar that has built schools, and given medical care to the local people.

Kanye West has eighteen Grammys, but on Wednesday night in Cannes, the rapper-designer-director placed his bets on seven screens. He debuted "Cruel Summer," a film-cum-art-instillation featuring Kid Cudi and Lebanese actress Razane Jammal, to a crowd of about 200.

The premiere was staged at a pop-up pyramid in a parking lot by the water. Viewers were surrounded by the screens, on which the story of a thief (Cudi) who falls in love with a blind Arab woman (Jammal) unfolded. The woman's father says that Cudi's character can only marry her if she cures her blindness. (Tall orders!) The film featured all new music, as GQ's Logan Hill confirmed:

Jay-Z was also present at the screening. Aziz Ansari, a friend of both rappers, has a small part in the film. West -- who is credited as the movie's writer, producer and director -- also has a minor acting role. The newly minted auteur chatted with girlfriend Kim Kardashian before the show, and the proud reality-TV star lead a standing ovation at the premiere.

"You're always looking at a Blackberry when you're at a ballgame or the theater," West said by way of an explanation for the seven screens. "It's because of the amount of information we have at once."

The film was shot in Qatar, where the Doha Film Institute acted as cultural and creative advisors on the film. DONDA, the creative collective West started and named after his late mother, was also involved in the production.
