New York Fashion Week Latin Flavored Looks
For the final show of New York Fashion Week, Ralph Lauren broke free from the pack and went down South America way for his Español-flavored spring collection. Jessica Alba, for one, was excited by it, sitting next to Olivia Wilde taking pictures and mouthing “so chic” to a consultant seated behind her. There was lots to be excited about, between the gold embroidered toreador pants, tooled leather jackets and the serape blanket wrap tops, not least of which were the cha-cha-cha accessories: colorful bead jewelry, stencil cut-out leather belts, python and lizard hobos, blanket stitch platform sandals. Not sure if he had Argentine Marxist revolutionaries on the brain, but the berets and the studded motorcycle mailbags lent a fab Che Guevara air.

American Athletes Try on the Controversial Olympic Uniforms
So … are they really that bad? Members of the U.S. Olympic team had some final opening ceremony uniform fittings with Ralph Lauren on Thursday, and a few athletes Tweeted photos from the proceedings.
Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant shared a shot of himself and New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, both in uniform (berets and all). The guys definitely wear their suits well, and Durant’s followers had nothing but compliments for the Team U.S.A.-ers. The outfits feature navy blazers, crisp white shirts and ties, plus those “too-European” berets, all emblazoned with the American flag.
The Lauren-designed uniforms came under fire earlier this month, first for the berets, and again after it was revealed that they were made in China. Following the uproar, the American design house released a statement, saying, “Ralph Lauren promises to lead the conversation within our industry and our government addressing the issue of increasing manufacturing in the United States and has committed to producing the Opening and Closing ceremony Team USA uniforms in the United States that will be worn for the 2014 Olympic Games.”

Ralph Lauren U.S. Team Opening Ceremony Outfits Revealed
David Lauren, executive VP of Ralph Lauren, revealed the U.S. Olympic uniforms for the London Games this morning on NBC’s Today Show.
“It’s a privilege to play a part in the London Games and to celebrate the achievements of these premier athletes as they represent our nation on the world’s biggest stage,” Lauren said.
The team unveiled buttoned-up, refined uniforms designed by Ralph Lauren for the opening ceremony at the London Olympics.
Men will wear navy blue blazers with the Olympic team patch, along with a red and navy tie, and cream-colored flat-front pants. Women will pair the blazers with scarves with red, white and blue stripes, and a knee-length cream-colored skirt.
All the team members will top off their uniforms with navy berets highlighted with red and white stripes.
Ralph Lauren also is dressing the Olympic and Paralympic teams for the closing ceremony and providing casual clothes to be worn around the Olympic Village. Nike has created many of the competition uniforms for the U.S. and outfits for the medal stand.
