At 13 months old babies are only just beginning to make sense of the world around them.

But Beyonce has revealed that her daughter Blue Ivy is 'already reading scratchcards'.

'She is hilarious and she is fire. Lord, am I going to have me a time,' Beyonce told chatshow host Oprah Winfrey.

'She's very smart. She's already reading flashcards. She's beautiful.'

Showering her little one with affection, the 31-year-old superstar cuddled up to her baby girl in a number of touching and tender shots from the family album.

With her long locks teased into stylish braids and showing off her natural beauty and radiant flawless skin by going make-up free, the Love On Top singer seemed to be in her absolute element as she made the most of precious family time with her daughter.

And with her adorable dark curly ringlets and big brown eyes, there is no denying the similarities between the super-cute tot and Beyoncé herself as a baby.

Offering a glimpse into the charmed life she and rap mogul husband Jay-Z share, the star opened up on the devastating miscarriage she suffered prior to falling pregnant with baby Blue Ivy.

Peppered with emotion, Beyonce touched on the topic briefly, saying, 'It was the saddest thing I've ever been through.

'My life is a journey. ... I had to go through my miscarriage, I believe I had to go through owning my company and managing myself ... ultimately your independence comes from knowing who you are and you being happy with yourself.'

The music megastar also talked to Oprah about the joys of becoming a mother for the first time.

She said: 'It's what I’m most proud of and it just made everything make sense to me. I couldn’t imagine my life if I did not have my daughter.

‘It's so much joy and I have my best friend. She is hilarious and she is fire. I didn't expect her to be fire but lord I’m a have me a time. She’s beautiful.

‘I definitely want another child but it was also important for me to do what I love and I love to perform. I love to make music so I wanted to have my daughter. Maybe after the next tour I’ll have another baby.’

Beyonce even credits Blue Ivy with helping her complete her long-awaited documentary, which offers an intimate behind-the-scenes look at her touching relationship with Jay-Z, as well as a look at the preparations for her performances at various music awards.

Explaining that the movie was three years in the works, she said: ‘My story did not feel complete and I didn't know why but ... after I gave birth I looked at my diaries and everything made sense.

‘There are so many connections in the film that I didn't realize until I gave birth. Everything just completely connected and I said now know who I am ... I wasn’t complete before my daughter.’

In her new video promoting her upcoming world tour Beyonce is seen  dressed with a billowing Victorian updo topped with a crown and golden royal-looking garb.

And it seems there was no expense spared for the stunning shots, with even her gold-tipped nails costing a staggering $1000.

The golden nails were designed by H&H nails, a company set up by a make-up artist and jewellery designer duo.

Make up artist Holly Silius and jewellery designer Hannah Warner joined their professions and have pushed the boundaries to create a range of 2D and 3D metal nails with famous fans such as Rhianna, Beth Ditto, Lianne Le Havas and Jaime Winstone.

The nail designs include classic gold and silver styles as well as more daring designs with 3D ants, wild thistles, skulls and spiderwebs.

After after and electrifying performance at this year's Super Bowl, Beyonce announced on youtube plans for her upcoming world tour. Beyonce will kick off "The Mrs. Carter Show" (in honor of hubby Jay-Z's real name, Shawn Carter) in Europe, then return stateside, ending at Brooklyn's Barclays Center in August.

The YouTube video is nothing short of regal, showing B donning her sparkliest corset and jewels and parading in front of her court.

The tour title has already received some flak, many wondering why the advocate for "Independent Women" and "Single Ladies" everywhere has forgone her last name for Hova's. Others, however, say the name may be hinting that Jay-Z will join her on stage. No confirmation on that yet, but we'd love to see the Queen and King rule the stage together.

Happy birthday Beyoncé!

Tuesday marks the Grammy Award winner's 31st birthday – and friends and family, including Gwyneth Paltrow; mom Tina Knowles; and her mother-in-law are sharing their warm wishes on the singer's website.

"God blessed me with one of the greatest gifts in my life on Sept. 4, 1981. Happy birthday," Beyoncé's mother writes.

Paltrow's message comes from her whole family: "For dear sweet BB on the occasion of her 31st birthday..." she writes. "We love you so very much. Love Gwyneth, Chris, Apple, Moses."

Diane Warren is working with Beyoncé on new material, The Associated Press reports. The songwriter, who wrote "I Was Here" on Beyoncé's latest album, 4, played a few songs for the singer last week in New York, where Beyoncé was in town performing at the United Nations for World Humanitarian Day.

Comparing the collaboration to working with Meryl Streep or Robert De Niro in film, Warren marveled at how natural it felt to work with Beyoncé. "Some people come in my studio and I'm like, 'Oh God,' and you've got to fix them up and it's just hard," she said. "Some of the people that get deals, you just can't understand. But then when you work with a Beyoncé or so sadly Whitney [Houston]. . . it's so beautiful."

Warren – who counts Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," Celine Dion's "Because You Love Me," Toni Braxton's "Un-Break My Heart," and Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" among her songwriting credits – has also been working with Dion, Kylie Minogue, John Legend, Emeli Sande and former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland, among others, and has written a song that's "probably going to be Aerosmith's single."

Beyonce shared an over the top nail design on her tumblr page this morning.

The photo shows a pair of hands with what looks like acylic nails painted in blue and gold, with rhinestones and pictures of both Jay-Z and Beyonce on her middle fingers! The letters J,Z,B and N are also on a few of the nails.

Beyoncé is returning to her Destiny’s Child roots and no, we’re not talking about those color-coordinated outfits she used to wear. She’s brought back her braids!

The superstar debuted her new extensions, wrapped up in a statement-making beehive bun, on Wednesday while in N.Y.C. with her daughter, Blue Ivy.

There were whispers that the singer was rocking long honey-hued braids at a party in the Meatpacking District earlier this week, but the new style didn’t make an official public appearance until now.

The hairdo is a major departure from the wavy, natural look she’s favored recently. It also seems as if she’s taken some inspiration from her sister Solange, who’s been sporting a similar look.

Apparently, Beyoncé’s adorable daughter is taking after her mom in the locks department: the little one already has quite a head of hair!
