We all knew that a Mercedes SLS AMG Electric Drive supercar was in the pipeline, but what we didn't know was that it would boast 740 horsepower and 738ft-lbs of torque. That's an astounding 177hp and 259ft-lbs more than the 6.2L gasoline engine.

Charging will either take 20 hours from a regular wall socket, or three from a custom speed charging unit. While the added weight of that battery is certainly not good for handling, Mercedes opted to lighten the car significantly using carbon fiber and aluminum in an attempt to make up for it.

Veyron buyers can specify the colors of each and every part of this new seven-figure ride but the factory-specified color scheme is pretty awesome and will ensure that this special edition will remain something of a collector's item. The car is being made available through Bugatti of Beverly Hills.

The Vitesse model combines the best attributes of every Veyron model that came before it, pairing the 1,200-horsepower version of Bugatti's epic 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine from the record-setting Veyron Super Sport with the open-roof body-style of the Grand Sport roadster. Together they amount to a 2.6-second 0-62 time and a 233 mph top speed - with the wind in your hair. Or rather, the hair of whoever can afford such an extravagance.
