Zero Budget Fashion Film by Student Filmmaker
What happens when you mix a creative photographic talent with an up and coming womenswear brand? A cool advertorial that would normally be out of reach for a start up brand.
Huxton’s first video was created by James Beattie over just two days, in a tiny studio with zero budget. Without the plethora of models, glamorous location and large budget normally at the disposal of larger fashion names, Huxton’s video stands alongside the fashion giants in a credible way. Beattie and Huxton prove that all it takes is a good idea and an element of creativity to make a fashion video that could easily blow the majority of other films out of the water.
Huxton was founded in 2011 by Joanna Lingham and Rebecca Pickard. Inspired by the idea of Clarissa Pinkola Estes that wolves and women are relational by nature, the wolf became the perfect symbol to represent our brand. Wolves are “possessed of great endurance and strength, they are deeply intuitive, fiercely stalwart and very brave”
The stories of Estes which speak of discovering one’s instinctual self were so resonant that they became the catalyst for the beginnings of Huxton and this wolf-like female strength is ever present in the essence of our designs. From bold colours to stunning prints, micro minis to floor-sweeping maxis, we create clothes for women who want to stand out. Check out the full collection at the Huxton website.

New Sustainable Fashion Line Lur Made From 100% Recycled Fibers
New Sustainable Fashion Brand lur apparel Goes Beyond Organic With 100% Recycled Materials.
Mark Heiman, a textile industry veteran, was disenchanted with the fashion industry's move towards low-quality, high impact, disposable fashion. Along with friend Alan Brown, he set out to create new technology that would reduce the impact fashion has on the environment.
The result of their efforts is a new fashion line called lur™ apparel. lur™ apparel produces sustainable fashion made from 100% recycled materials. The goal of lur™ apparel is to knit beauty, sustainability, and social responsibility into each and every piece of clothing.
The company says their products are more sustainable and environmentally friendly than organic cotton - while still remaining just as beautiful and soft to the touch. The fabric is made from pre-consumer recycled cotton scraps and recycled polyester from plastic bottles.
At launch lur™’s line carries twenty seven apparel styles and the company estimates that through their production process, each item of lur™ clothing saves roughly 160 gallons of fresh water from entering the waste stream.
In addition to producing clothing in a sustainable manner, the company also seeks to give back to those in need. A portion of the profits from lur™ apparel go to help women establish their own businesses and gain access to education to allow themselves, their families, and their communities, the opportunity to rise out of poverty.
“We call lur™ apparel ‘Fashion for Change’ because we believe it is the first time that care for the planet, fair wages, and modern styling have been united under one brand,” said co-founder Alan Brown.
The line is available at www.lurapparel.com and at select boutiques across country.

Jack Germain Handbags Feature Fall 2012
(New York) — November 2012 — When Jack Germain lugged an industrial sewing machine home to her East Village apartment three years ago, her goal was to create bags with that perfect mix of edgy and girlie for her and her friends. But soon, after realizing that she couldn’t walk a block without being stopped by strangers asking where she got her bag, Jack realized that she had to offer her designs to the public: and her namesake handbag line, Jack Germain, was born.
Jack Germain bags blend seemingly contradictory aesthetics—masculine and feminine, luxe and casually cool, on-trend and timelessly classic—making them the ultimate choice for an afternoon in ripped jeans or a night out in sequins.
Each creation whether it’s a crossbody, a clutch, a shoulder bag, or a makeup pouch features buttery Italian leather, an eye-catching aesthetic, and creative details like fringe, studs, grommets, rough-hewn edges, and even faux bullet holes. The result is a bag that both stands out and blends seamlessly with every girl’s wardrobe. It’s no wonder Jack Germain has been featured in BlackBook Mag, People StyleWatch, InStyle, and Elle.
Having carried the same handbag for seven years, Jack is a firm believer in the idea that a bag should never expire, neither because of its quality nor because of its style. With that in mind, all Jack Germain designs are created to survive daily use and outlive passing trends.
About Designer Jack Germain:
A graduate of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in Accessories Design, Jack honed her craft interning for Cynthia Rowley, Prada, and Emanuel Ungaro all before the age of 20. At 23, Jack launched her line and quickly gained a following of women hooked on the Jack Germain aesthetic: ultra-cool with a lot of edge and just enough femininity. She lives and designs in New York City, where all of her bags are made.

Case of the Round Shades
Hello!
I came across this picture of Ruby Jean in Sydney wearing her "John Lennon" glasses, by Streetpeeper. Generally the outfit is wonderful; minimal, simple, modern, chic with a nice pop of red through the shoes, and then the glasses just pull it all together.
I don’t know if it is because they remind me of the Beatles, or my later childhood when I had a perfect pair myself, but I just thought they were great enough to share with you and talk about.
What do you think about them?
Would you wear something that is so intimately connected to the image of someone that has left such a mark in the history of pop culture?

Scoop NYC and LA Art Present: Alexandra Grant X Clover Canyon Collection
Exclusive Women’s Collection To Be Launched At Scoop NYC During Art Basel
New York, NY (November 12th, 2012) – Scoop NYC and LA><ART have teamed up to launch the Alexandra Grant for Clover Canyon Collection exclusively at Scoop NYC’s South Beach store, located within the Shore Club Hotel during Art Basel. On Thursday, December 6th, Scoop NYC will celebrate the collaboration with an exclusive in-store party in honor of artist Alexandra Grant and Rozae Nichols, Clover Canyon’s designer. LA><ART, a nonprofit contemporary art space in Los Angeles committed to experimental exhibitions and public art initiatives, will be the evening’s beneficiary of 10% of sales.
Alexandra Grant, an American artist based in Los Angeles, has collaborated with Rozae Nichols, the designer behind Clover Canyon, to design a collection of women’s styles using prints inspired by several of Alexandra Grant’s paintings. Grant is known for creating paintings, drawings and sculpture based on explorations of text. Her art has been displayed at museums and galleries around the globe including her first solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the 2010 California Biennial of Art at the Orange County Museum of Art, the Contemporary Museum in Baltimore and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Clover Canyon is designed and produced in Los Angeles, and each of Ms. Nichols’ collections reflects the eclectic, joyful spirit of California through vivid prints and streamlined silhouettes. The Clover Canyon atelier is unique: working collaboratively, and drawing on their shared passion for travel and art, the team designs original prints, and hand-engineers them to frame and enhance the body.
Susan Davidson, President and CEO of Scoop NYC said, "I am thrilled about Scoop’s collaboration with LAXART, Alexandra Grant and Clover Canyon. Alexandra's paintings are beautiful. The prints that Clover Canyon has created from them will truly resonate with our customers."

Fresh Jewelry by Haus of Topper Collection
I'm always on a search for new and fresh accessories. Whether it's jewelry, handbags, or shoes, the fashion world sometimes seem to follow rules. Jewelry line Haus of Topper is making the rules and soon everyone will be following. The hand-crafted pieces are a hybrid of sex appeal, sophistication, and effortless style all made from mix metals, stones and random objects. Creator and designer David Topper, founded the Brooklyn based jewelry line in 2010 and he says "each piece is inspired by everyday city life, nature, as well as, the ever present under tones of masculinity and femininity". And with each jewelry's box adorned with a sticker that says "WARNING: Not Your Typical Family Jewels", tells you that Topper is not a fly by night designer.

With eccentric fun styles including bold cuffs, long feathered necklaces, thick chained chokers, jeweled toned earrings and bracelets, Haus of Topper is creative, exceptionally different, and ahead of it's time. Many pieces in the collection are unisex and priced under $100. Finding affordable handcrafted anything these days is almost impossible, so you know I'm fan. Vogue: Old Issues in New Perspective
Vogue is acknowledged as one of the most established fashion magazines of the printed world, creating and presenting style options and haute couture since as far back as 1892! What caught my attention however was how a cover like this can seem so timeless and chic, even today.
I love that about old press; the hand-painted illustrations, followed by the colors and vintage, feminine poses. They seem so romantic and nostalgic, yet at the same time very modern. You can frame them near a boudoir or place them among others to make a framed, wall collage. Some even look great in a bath, or by the closet where we hang guest coats.
What do you think about old prints and posters? Would you add some to your pad’s decoration?

Fashionable Autumn/Winter Colors
The most fashionable colors in autumn/winter 2012/2013 are blue, black, brown and purple. Personally, my favorite color is blue, neon blue and a natural blue. Fresh and calming, the color of the sky, water and ocean. It's amazing to see that color between all these heavy and classical colors, which are trendy every autumn/winter season. Alberta Ferretti and Jean Paul Gaultier made some beautiful and comfortable blue fur coats and Versace made a light blue dresses.

Don't be afraid to experiment. Blue will make your style modern and chick.
"This or that?"
Hello again.
With all the rain and snow here in NY and with winter threatening to lead to frumpiness I went boot searching. I kept coming across countless booties in all colors and styles, heels or not. Here is my question to you:
Classic or Avant-Garde?
You might be wondering what I mean so let me explain. On one hand, Oxford booties are the all time classic shoe style. They are pretty, preppy yet modern with a touch of masculinity that can get you practically anywhere with sophisticated style. On the other hand, there are the reinvented ones, like these Fendi, which are obviously inspired by romanticized eras of the past but have a whole show of their own going on. Tempted? I am!
