Aurora Fashion Week Russia Fall-Winter 2012-13

The fifth season of AURORA FASHION WEEK Russia is behind. The season had a number of innovations.

For the first time 2 runways were constructed, and 30 designers from Europe, Asia and America presented their collections.

AURORA FASHION WEEK of Russia was covered by more than 300 media representatives from Russia and Europe including Sara Maino and Elisa Bellini, fashion editors of Vogue Italy, Luca Lanzoni from Elle Italy, Anna Oberhauser (Anna Oberhauser Public Relations),  Marya Popova who is chief-editor of the internet portal Buro 24/7, Paul Vardishvilli from Interview Russia and representatives Planet Fashion TV and Fashion One.

Bentley was the official automobile luxury partner of the Fashion Week.

The main shows started on 11th April, Wednesday. In the morning participants were invited to the Adidas Fashion Run.

Later in the evening the official program of AURORA FASHION WEEK Russia started with the show of Arngoldt. Bare models was walking on the runway, wearing trapeziform dresses, coats and suits from 60-s. Jamil Khanza Haute Couture presented the collection of luxurious dresses decorated with sparkling stones.

Igor Gulyaev presented a collection in the style of 60-s, despite the fact that there were laconic silhouettes and predominance of black and white palette, we also noted the Russian luxury thanks to the volume fur hats.

The collection of Lena Vasilyeva was made in a special style of fashion house and consisted of long dresses made of wool and silk. There were also leather elements, flying and translucent fabrics and fur muffs.

Tatyana Parfionova surprised the guests of Fashion Week with unusual staging, which was named “The Twelfth Night”: models were walking on the runway and reciting the Shakespeare’s poetry.
Kukso Koo, designer from Italy, presented the collection of perfect cocktail dresses – bright colors and amazing drapery.

Kazakh brand Salta, which was chosen by general producer of Saint-Petersburg AURORA FASHION WEEK Russia Artem Balayev, devoted her collection to the style icon of 60-s – Twiggy. Models were wearing mini-dresses and coats in trapezoidal shape which were supplemented with accessories – quilting kerchiefs and volume bags.

Mikhailovskiy theatre staged a dramatic show: for the first time models were ballet dancers, performing Pa and pirouettes on the runway. The collection consisted of costumes for the ballet “Sleeping Beauty” by Nacho Duato.

Designer from Denmark Anne Sofie Madsen, who had an internship in John Galiano’s studio and worked with Alexander McQueen, devoted her collection to the goddess of ocean Sedna. The culmination of Saint-Petersburg AURORA FASHION WEEK Russia was Thom Browne’s show. The designer presented men’s and women’s collections. The men’s collection consisted of narrow coats, jackets with hypertonic shoulder line, sweaters in Rugby style, Oxford shirts that bared the trunk of the models, pins and short trousers. The women’s collection was devoted to the victims of fashion who “loved fashion and died for it”: models were in grey suits and veils.  

Later in the evening the head of Bentley Russia Gunter Beringer presented a prize to Victoria Costa who became the best model of the season.
