The Roots' 13th release is a concept album It narrates the story of a gangster from death to birth. It's a cool album. There is no question the musically,as a band The Roots are one of the best out there. The subject matter is a little tired (the gangster life) although they try to insert a suggestion that bad choices in a bad environment can make a good person go really bad. Even that is not really a new theme though. The record ends with really great instrumental tracks.
