When I was in London recently I was lucky enough to go with some friends to the Arts Club in Mayfair. It' s an exclusive private members club founded in 1863 whose members and guests included iconic literati and artists like Charles Dickens, Whistler, Rudyard Kipling, Claude Monet, Auguste Rodin, Edgar Degas and Ivan Turgenev. Today the members include the royal family, members of the rolling stone, and Gwyneth Paltrow. It's in Dover Street, Mayfair, London, England and its a seriously hot spot to have a cup of tea or cocktail if you fancy.
Anyway, the day I went it was pretty funny because I was just arriving in to London and had all my huge amounts of crappy looking luggage. I had no time to drop it off before I came to the Arts Club. I felt a little bad having the prim and proper girls at the front, who were all dressed in cream or peach colors, have to deal with it all, but they were cool.
Anyway if you have a friend that's a member you definitely want to go to Arts Club. If you're in the mood for that upscale, chic British vibe. This is it.
