Lexus steps it up a notch! This is the Landaulet

It's a bit of a rip off on Maybach but we still think this is cool. A unique Lexus LS 600h has been created for the official royal wedding of Prince Albert of Monaco to Charlene Wittstock, a former Olympic swimmer from South Africa.

This is the Lexus LS 600h Landaulet , a one of a kind hybrid electric powered convertible that features a one-piece, transparent polycarbonate roof.

The state-of-the-art roof conversion was undertaken by renowned Belgian coachbuilders Carat Duchatelet and took over 2000 hours to complete, beginning with extensive computer aided calculations, simulations and modelling. The bodyshell was reinforced with honeycomb construction, Kevlar and carbon fibre, in order to maintain the chassis stiffness and torsional rigidity following the removal of the rear roof and C-pillars. The adding of the composite materials required the stripping out of some 20,000 mechanical components and then reassembly.

The removable transparent roof is made by an un-named French supplier known for creating helicopter and jet fighter canopies.
