Celia's Diary in Milan Day 1

Milano Fashion Week

When I got in to Milan Fashion Week from London Fashion Week I was exhausted because they overlap a little. There is no down time. So I flew out from London late, then overslept and missed the Gucci show. Bummer, since it ended up being one of the best of the week I'm told. Anyway. I was dragging around that entire first day so it was a bit of a waste. The next day I was up and out early and headed over to the Rocco Barrocco show.

In Milan the main shows, or central area of the fashion week, used ot be held in a convention center. But as of the last two years they've been held right in the center of town in the old castle. Castle Sforza http://www.milanocastello.it/ing/home.html  It was actually a really beautiful change aesthetically. But it is a smaller location.

While I was at that show I ran into my friend Ekaterina, who looks like she's 17, but who actually runs St Petersburg Fashion Week in Russia. We jumped on a shuttle bus to the next show, Krizia. Krizia is a classic Italian designer.

What's great about the Milan Fashion Week is that they shuttle you around from the main venue to the other smaller venues where shows are held around the city. With NY and Paris shows you have to just get around on your own.

Anyway, the Krizia show was an interesting mix of ideas. Fun show. She also did a cool tribute to Whitney Houston.
