Vacation Home exchange sites have just gotten a whole lot more chic. Enter Behomm. It’s a new site that is similar to Airbnb in that you exchange short term housing but it is members only. It’s dedicated to a specific demographic as well. It’s members are all from the creative arts, specifically visual artists, film makers, stylists, fashion designers, photographers, interior designers and architects. So it basically caters to anyone who makes a career out of aesthetics.
What better house to exchange with than a house that you know will have some style. After all, when you’re on vacation it’s nice to be able to relax in a tasteful place. Some of the places on Airbnb can be a bit spartan.
Its been just a year and a half since Behomme launched but it already has 1200 members. To join, members must be one of 98 creative disciplines and have a superb place. The houses are mainly in Spain and the US, but also scattered throughout the globe in places like South Africa, Brazil, Bali and Japan.
Because the members are all from the creative fields there are often friendships and even business opportunities that are made from the site. Getting an invitation is not easy though. They turn down 10 to 20 percent of the applicants that try to join.
