With the anticipation of just too much to do and too little time I hopped out of bed at 7:00am for an early croissant and cafe latte before heading to the Palais to pick up my accreditation and Marche du Film market bag.
Celia Evans, of Sea Star Films and I then headed over to The Carlton Hotel to meet with the events manager Sophie De Fazio to go over the plan for our “Cocktails & Couture” fashion event next week.
The room where we will host the party is grand with a sky light cathedral ceiling, a stone balcony with majestic views of the ocean and all of the mega yachts. Of course this is Cannes so there is always a little people watching. At the table across from us out of the terrace having his own morning meeting was Producer Jeffrey Katzenberg who is best known for the animation film “Shrek”. Later in the day we met with model, actor, director, producer, writer MYC Agnew to discuss his role in our “Cocktails & Couture” show. There is no need to be a mystery here, MYC is a face you will recognize with his model work in The Gap ads, GQ spread with Super Model Cindy Crawford back in the day and so much more.
We had our meeting in the luxury lounge of Smalto with a birds-eye view of the Cannes Film Festival billboard on the balcony in the beau soleil. Celia and I then met other friends, including French actor Anthony Abate at the 3-14 beach front where American singer Cris Cab was performing. He belted out a few songs including his most famous ballad “Liar Liar”. Cab has also worked with Pharrell Williams but has his own style with a mix of pop, reggae, soul and fusion.
Not a bad day to get your Cannes on. Stay tuned for more updates from the film festival and the amazing ambiance here.
