Long before Karl Lagerfeld was an icon he won a few tango and cha-cha championships in his youth. He purports to have always been a big fan of Latin style and music. So when global relationships with Cuba started to thaw, with the state visit of United States President Barrack Obama in March, Lagerfeld jumped at the chance to show a Chanel collection in a country that has always fascinated him. The result was nothing short of incredibly chic!

Privileged guests who were invited to the historic were driven to the event automobile cavalcade of the colorful vintage convertibles. in a extraordinary demonstration of luxury and modern history.

The “Club Coco” collection turned out to be a vibrant love letter to Cuba. The open air show took place in the early evening. Guests sat on street benches that lined the sides of El Paseo del Prado avenue, while rhythmic Latin music brought further energy and romance to the show.

The look was 50’s cool, meets glittery Che Guerrera, meets Parisian elegance. That’s a lot to assimilate but it worked like a magical charm.
