You probably know Tuscany is a region in Central Italy lying on Tyrrhenian Sea shore.
It was a place where renaissance started, and this area has plenty to offer to everybody, from historical and cultural inheritance, monuments, museums, galleries, wineries, olive millers, restaurants, nightlife, sport and other events, beautiful landscapes and nature, and much more.
Famous singer Sting owns Il palagio estate near the city of Figline Valdarno, where he makes his own olive oil, wine and honey. Frances Mayes, author of Under the Tuscan Sun novel, owns a house in Cortona. Italian origin actress Debi Mazar and her husband received 14th century house near Florence as a wedding gift from his parents.
Well, if they find Tuscany good enough to spend part of their life in, you should consider it too.
You do not need to buy some house in Tuscany to visit it (if you want, you can, of course).
Just find some Tuscany villa with pool and rent it. It will give you a plenty comfort till you consider all the things you could do while you are there. If you are not some fan of villas, you can also rent some Tuscany apartment to stay. That way you will be closer to Tuscan history, since many apartments are located in medieval cities center, in old renaissance houses.
What could you do while staying in Tuscany? It depends on your taste.
For example, if you are a nature lover, you could visit some beaches on Tyrrhenian Sea. P
lenty of bicycle routes and trekking paths will give you the unique opportunity to enjoy beautiful landscapes and panoramas. There are nature parks you could visit. In summer months, we highly recommend a visit in the lavender fields, where you will be amazed at all the colors and scents of lavender.
In September, you can participate in the grape harvest, and till November, farmers pick olives.
When we are talking about grapes and olives, it is interesting to visit wineries and millers.
Gourmets will enjoy in different restaurants that offer classic local meals, usually prepared with ingredients bought from local farmers.
As the birthplace of the Renaissance, Tuscany is full of museums, galleries, old city centers, monuments and churches. You could also visit the old city of Florence, Siena town square where horse race happens twice a year, the Leaning Tower in Pisa, remarkable churches, Etruscan archeological digs and much more.
No matter what are your preferences, in Tuscany you can find something for every taste. I am sure if you visit Tuscany once, you will enjoy it so much, and you will hardly wait to come again.
