Fashion has no limits. It is constantly evolving and reinventing itself. The fashion through history exhibition is a static fashion collaboration between two visionaries in their feild, each with an extensive fashion background and many styling credits to their name, Shervan McClain and Carla Saavedra, featuring the designs of Michelle Gencev’s Minxsy Collection. Guests will need to walk around to catch a glimpse of each visual masterpiece.
This presentation is an observation of a generation interested in revisiting all the fashion rules throughout history, breaking and remixing them. Our intent is to be everywhere at once, echoing our current millenial-focused cultural climate, which has an affinity for escapism and authenticity.
Nostalgia for times with more spontaneity and individuality, free from the rigidity of the fashion system, has sparked the comeback of many different styles; from those of royalty during the Golden Age of Versailles to the casual outré styles of the 90s.
As we revist the corset, the flapper, the assymetric look, the unfinished look, we want to demonstrate what has truly been accomplised throughout the history of fashion. By presenting different visions of beauty against a modern fashionable body, you may just notice how we can still see the history in our garments, even as far back as 300 years ago.
We will also show what we then consider to be the future of the female silhouette.
