Miami Swim Week is the largest swimwear fashion week in the world. It is a fashion community week that no one owns but rather is a time of year that different production companies present fashion shows and trade shows for the Swim and resort wear apparel industry.

The event started back in 1982 with the Swim Show, a trade show for wholesale buyers of swim and resort wear. The trade show has been going on now for 41 years. In the 1980 and 90’s little presentations would pop up during the Swim Show in mid July, however in the early 2000’s things got real. IMG and Mercedes Benz teamed up to make IMG Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. That is when Miami Swim Week as we know it really took form. From 2005 to 2015, production companies like Funkshion, LDJ Productions, Planet Fashion and SBI, began assisting with trade show setup and throwing their own events and fashion shows during the IMG Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim.

The week began being called Miami Swim Week as a sort of nomenclature, a casual name for an official time of year.  In 2015 the partnership between IMG and Mercedes Benz dissolved and when the two companies left, Miami Swim Week became more decentralized. Through the years and especially in the last 2 to 3 years new production companies have found their way from across the country to create events and fashion shows during Miami Swim Week.

At this point however the production companies that have been producing fashion shows at Miami Swim Week the longest are Paraiso  (Funkshion) and Planet Fashion. Planet Fashion began producing shows at Miami Swim Week back in 2010.

     .

When Paraiso decided to move their Miami Swim Week production to the first week of June this year, Planet Fashion joined them.

The annual Ocean Drive Magazine show moved to June as well. Exclusive Swim Week events in the Design District, Miami’s luxury sector, have all also joined Paraiso in the Move to June. Fashion Group International, as well as the CFDA, Business of Fashion and Women’s Wear Daily Magazine’s have all recognized  June 8th through 11th as the new Miami Swim Week dates.

We are proud to partner with Hyde Beach and Paraiso this year to present Swimwear Fashion Shows June 9th and 10th for the new June, Miami Swim Week.
