It’s the brand that many celebrities like supermodel Naomi Campbell, La La Anthony and Kim Kardashian are wearing and raving about. OFF-WHITE c/o VIRGIL ABLOH. Launched in 2013, the brand describes themselves as a fashion label rooted in current culture at a taste-level particular to now. Born in 1980 Virgil Abloh is the founder and creative genius behind the OFF-WHITE label. He wears many hats including Kanye West’s creative director who he has worked with since 2002. Abloh’s was trained as an architect and an engineer, then he left a firm in Chicago to join Kanye, and has since refashioned himself as an all-purpose cultural guru. He art directed Kanye’s tour and merchandise. He has made frequent D.J. appearances, opened his clothing store, RSVP Gallery, in Chicago and been involved in a handful of fashion collaborations and collections.

His roots started in Ghana where his parents are from but he was raised in Rockford, Illinois. Abloh is definitely setting new standards in urban appeal for men and women with his designs that range from t-shirts, athletic hoodies, denim, cropped jackets, skirts with high slits, boots and his brand even includes furniture. There are kids in America that don’t know anything about most fashion houses like Dior but they know they want Abloh’s pieces because they are so genius. He recently did a collaboration with Nike called “Ten Icons Reconstructed” causing many including myself to clamor to get his sneakers with his signature designs across it.

What I love about OFF WHITE is that there is something for everyone. He has t-shirts with provocative images, silk dresses that are ethereal and sexy, a wide range of shoes for both men and women, sexy cropped jackets as well as oversized jackets, a wide range of denim designs including the still popular jumpsuit, lace tops and the lists goes on. There is so much variety in his designs that you are sure to find something you like. I love his collaboration with the well-known Levi brand as well.

His “For Walking” boots from his FW 2017 collection left many of us drooling and saving every penny as the price tag starts in the $2000 range (there is an over knee boots version of the below For Walking boots that is around $2400).
