After over a 2-year break due to the pandemic, the Met Gala is finally returning this upcoming Monday, September 13th. Although it isn’t the traditional first Monday of May, it will certainly exceed any and all expectations as designer’s have had plenty of time to prepare… right?

This year’s theme, In America: An Anthology of Fashion, opens the doors for plenty of Americana-inspired looks with blast-from-the-past influences. Whether it be good or bad, this year’s Met Gala will certainly have their fair share of memorable looks, just like prior years.

No one will ever be able to get over Beyoncé’s sheer embellished dress for the 2015 Met Gala. Not only did it perfectly match the theme of ‘China, Through The Looking Glass’, but it is still a look that fashion-lovers look back on every May.

Rihanna’s crystal-covered John Galliano papal look for the Heavenly Bodies theme is yet another beloved Met Gala look. Has Rih ever made a poor fashion choice?

Although there were arguments on whether or not this Hailey Baldwin 2019 Met Gala look fit the theme of camp, it certainly brought back the 2000s-inspired built-in thong trend and made for a gorgeous red carpet look, camp or not.

Speaking of camp, can you be any more on theme than carrying a 3D clone of your own head on the red carpet? Jared Leto and Alessandro Michele say no.

Of course there are plenty of other unforgettable Met Gala looks, like Lady Gaga’s 3 outfit changes on her way up the red carpet, or Cardi B’s extra-long quilted gown. And there will certainly be plenty more added to the list this year. As this year’s event is probably the most anticipated Met Gala yet, there is a lot of pressure to be well-dressed and on-theme. Who do you think will dress to impress or fall to criticism?
