Celine presented a virtual fashion show today that was a really wearable collection of apparel that you would see on your everyday city girl. The collection was presented with models walking quickly through a park, as if it were just people on their way to work. We will be so glad when virtual shows are over.
Hedi Slimane, the Artistic Director of Celine, came from the menswear division of Christian Dior before going to Yves Saint Laurent as Artistic Director and ultimately landing at Celine. With this collection he brings a distinct masculinity to Celine women ready to wear. Perhaps he’s been trying to counter Celine’s previous artistic director Phoebe Philo’s vision which was usually pretty light and girly. Slimane has said that he wanted to replace the brand’s traditional style with his personal signature “driven by youth culture, indie rock and sulking adolescence.”
