Breaking news for those who have been stocking up on their digital asset wallets, Italian luxury
brand Gucci has just announced that select stores will now be accepting cryptocurrency as a form
of payment. The move to crypto payments is set to happen at the end of this month at select
stores in the U. S. Gucci’s locations that will allow cryptocurrencies include; New York’s
Wooster Street, Los Angeles’ Rodeo Drive, Atlanta’s Phipps Plaza, Las Vegas’ The Shop at
Crystals, and Miami’s Design District. This is a significant step for the Italian fashion house, as it
will blend its Web3 and physical communities. Not only will this move merge its virtual
participants with itrs physical, but this also marks a major validation for the currency by a brand
as big a s Gucci’s. To ensure a smooth transition to virtual currency, all of Gucci’s employees at
the selected locations will receive NFT training as well as cryptocurrency training. The training
will most likely include all 10 cryptocurrencies the luxury brand will be accepting.

Gucci will be accepting a little over 10 cryptocurrencies. They include; Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin
(BTC) and 5 USD-pegged stablecoins (GUSD, USDC, USDP, DAI AND BUSD). Gucci will
also be accepting more niche cryptocurrencies, like Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu
(SHIB).The luxury brand stated in a press release, “Gucci is a digital first luxury brand and this
is the next phase of the company’s Web 3.0 journey.” But fear not, if you are not near any of the
locations and you are itching to be one of the first to make a cryptocurrency purchase, the brand
has plans to expand this Pilot Project. The Summer program will expand to Gucci’s full North
American network. Though Gucci is not the first luxury brand to allow cryptocurrency (Off
White has recently made this venture), it is the most accessible! What are your thoughts on this
gigantic move for lovers of fashion and the verse?
