Pop icon Lady Gaga is the new face for the Spring/Summer 2014 Versace advertising campaign. With Twitter all the rage for getting news out these days, Versace made the announcement here, with the campaign shot by buzzing photog-duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott.
The photos of Lady Gaga obviously play homage to Donatella Versace herself. Gaga models a hip-hugging lilac dress wit cut out details and silver chain Medusa heads. Her long silky blond locks fall to her waisteline while she is reclining in a lounge chair. Gaga completes the stunning look with a purple statement ring, and stacked rings. Her make-up is natural with pale peach lips and nude colored nail polish. And,, of course what gives her a healthy glow is a golden tan.
The Grammy winner took to Twitter to express her excitement, writing “I’m so happy to be working w/ @Versace for the new Campaign! What do you wanna wear this Spring? #Donatella #famiglia.” Donatella replied via Twitter saying “To a true iconic contemporary Versace woman: Thank you. -Donatella” It’s no secret that Gaga is a huge fan of Versace. Lady Gaga paid homage to Donatella on her new ARTPOP album with a song called “Donatella.” She croons “she’s so rich, and so blonde…she’s so fab, it’s beyond.” Donatella is quoted as saying: “I am honored that my friend Lady Gaga is the face of our new Versace campaign. I wanted to capture her true beauty and spirit in images that are elegant and alluring. She is like family to me, the embodiment of the Versace DNA.”
In another Versace advertisement, Lady Gaga is photographed holding a large “Palazzo” black leather handbag with a Medusa head adorned on it. Gaga is wearing a black silvery sparkle dress and ankle strap heels. I can’t wait for the Spring/Summer 2014 Versace collection to be released.
