Lanvin the French High Fashion house was founded by Jeanne Lanvin in 1889 and has been one of the major and oldest fashion houses in the world. The current artistic director of the brand, Bruno Sialelli, shipped their pre-styled Lanvin apparel for their fashion show to Shanghai and live-streamed it from the historic Yu Garden. Their show was for Paris Fashion Week but the Asian market is so important to them in terms of luxury sales, they felt that it would be beneficial to do a show in China. Sialelli said “To be very pragmatic, this is the market that is going to drive growth in luxury in general. It’s good for us to federate our community there.”
Lanvin is also now owned by Fosun International, the Chinese conglomerate. They also own the Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cirque du Soleil.
The collection was a throwback to the 1920’s flapper.
There were embellishments of gilded Art Deco throughout. There was a reference to old Hollywood glamor. The hair was styled like Josephine Baker. It was a show with romance and history.
