Michael Kors dedicated his NYFW Show to his mother Joan Kors, who passed away in early August.

Among the celebrities that attended were: Halle Berry, Babyface, Tiffany Haddish, Blake Lively, And Just Like That‘s Nicole Ari Parker, Oscar winner Ariana DeBose and more.

“All of us dream of holidays,” the designer said  before the show while explaining the collection’s beachy vibe. “I wanted to have this sort of barefoot glamour.”

He reiterated that his mother was a major inspiration, sharing, “My mother truly was my ultimate muse, my ultimate supporter. She and I traveled the world together and I have so many incredible memories of holidays with her.And she was a woman who broke the rules. She wore hot pants to the office. I think she always had fun with fashion and she really knew herself.“

The designer paid tribute to his late mother  with a beautiful collection that made a strong statement for a casual elegance. Working on the collection, he remembered the travels he took with her around the world – Saint Barths, St Tropez, Capri, Phuket, and more – and her irreverent fashion style. There were sequined lace numbers, shirt dresses, flirty mini dresses, and patterned caftans. The music was all Burt Bacharach tunes, from “Walk on By” to “Promises, Promises.” By the time “What the World Needs Now”, who also recently passed away in January.
