Figure skater Nathan Chen brought Team USA another gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in style.
For his performance, he wore a galaxy-printed top and black knit rib accents designed by Vera Wang. Earlier in the week, Chen sported a tuxedo-inspired, two-piece ensemble. After he finished the long program event, the 22-year-old was awarded a score of 332.60, combined from his 113.97 short program score and 218.63 free skate score.

“When you get the chance to dress an Olympian in a sport you so adore… it’s an honor and a privilege,” Vera Wang captioned photos of the skater on Instagram, adding, “Congratulations to my friend, @nathanwchen on winning 🥇 for his country, his team, his support system, his family, friends and fans…. but most of all, himself 🙏 🇺🇸 ⛸..”
Though Wang is known for designing red carpet gowns and wedding dresses, she has been a staple designer of Olympic figure skating costumes for over 20 years. This is also not the first time she has worked with Nathan Chen. After designing his sleek Olympic skating ensembles in 2018, the designer stated, “No two skaters share the same energy, creativity, athleticism, musicality, or style…Nathan reflects a new freedom not only in his feats of tackling quad jumps, but a very modern sense of music and movement that has influenced the artistic side of skating.”

Wang is a proud member of the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame due to her contributions to the sport, including her most recent work with Chen.
