The Pantone Color Institute released its official Color Trend Report for New York Fashion Week fall 2022, and the predictions did not disappoint.
The official colors were announced on Thursday, involving a combination of nurturing and vibrant. Classic shades also showed up in the report, such as Arctic Wolf, Autumn Blonde (cream), Polar Night (blue), Loden Frost, and Chiseled-Stone. Other shades included Martine Olive, Midnight, Caramel Cafe, Watersprout, Nosegay, Lava Falls, Cheerful Samoan Sun (orange-red), Gregarious Orange Tiger, Vivid and vibrant Rose Violet, and green Amazon.
Despite the wide range of hues predicted, all 15 named popped up on the runway at New York Fashion Week. Many designers including Zimmerman, Proenza Schouler, Sergio Hudson, and many others have incorporated these few colors into their Fall 2022 collections.
Zimmerman in particular featured a variety of Pantone’s 2022 hues, such as Polar Night, Autumn Blonde, and Caramel Cafe.

‘Orange Tiger’ was another popular color on the runways, having been used by Anna Sui for a fur coat and matching set, Maisie Wilen in a printed two-piece set, at Staud in a color-blocked leather trench coat and at Victor Glemaud in a strapless maxidress.

“Colors for Autumn/Winter 2022/2023 contrast our competing desires for calm and comfort with energy boosting vitality through a range of restful and restorative colors, in tandem with exuberant tones,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
“As we move forward into an environment filled with contradiction, hues for Autumn/Winter 2022/2023 enable consumers to move fluidly between a range of contrasting shades, allowing them to spontaneously express who they are and how they feel on any given day.”
