Gucci’s Alessandro Michele, has taken the Italian luxury label into the cosmos and beyond. We love it. The fashion industry is notorious for taking itself far too seriously, but that elitist subculture mentality doesn’t really work in the millennial generation. Being rich doesn’t mean you have to be a bore. In comes Gucci with an innovative and fresh advertising campaign referencing the sci-fi genre of the 50s and 60s. Glen Luchford shot this kitsch project. There are aliens, earthlings, humanoids and robots. Wearing downtown Gucci urban wear, the photos are set within spacecraft interiors and classic monster movie landscapes for the sci-fi fan / fashionista. Michele drew inspiration from movie greats like Creature Of The Black Lagoon and Star Trek. The overall effect of re-imagining these old films in a fashion campaign is new and exciting. After all fashion should be fun.
