Planet Fashion Showcase At Wicker Park Festival

By Carla Saavedra

Planet Fashion transported Chicago’s Wicker Park Festival goers straight to Miami for a one-of-a-kind pop-up fashion show experience evoking all the Miami heat and glamour as models walked the catwalk in their sexy high heels and innovative luxury swimwear by star designer Roberto Cavalli. Directed and Styled by Planet Fashion’s Art Director, Carla Saavedra in collaboration with Salon Lokēi, this event presented a unique opportunity to bring elite fashion to a different city, not one commonly on the fashion radar. As Owner and CEO, Celia Evans says, it also is an opportunity for local brands and Chicago-based brands, such as Sir and Madame to showcase their capsule collection on an international stage and be broadcast all over the world.

As far as the swimwear presentation goes, Roberto Cavalli was classic Cavalli, with eccentric, animal-like prints that were elegantly cut to adorn and accentuate the female body. As the show opened and the models walked out to the beat of the Brazilian- themed music, it was reminiscent of the sexy, cutting-edge runway that Miami Swim Week is known for in the heart of the summer.

To change up the pace, Sir and Madame presented an avant-garde capsule collection with an unconventional and oversized aesthetic, that took on a very different, almost underground New York Fashion Week vibe. This collection also seemed to win the crowd over as it was worn and shown by some of Chicago’s top models. Sponsored by La Croix Sparkling Water, the event was built and taken down within a matter of a few hours, very significant to and exemplary of the culture of fashion: ephemeral and transient, yet no less poetic.
