New York Fashion Week is one of the biggest fashion events of the year. Some of the most important and influential designers present their collections to the hungry crowds, always prepared to captivate their imagination. It’s not just that it happens in one of the fashion capitals and biggest/trendiest cities of the world. It’s not just that it is the first one to start. It’s that New York City vibe that makes the difference.
This season was no different. From glamorous parties and our favorite models, to stunning looks on the runway and new styles waiting for us to try them. We saw many different colors, styles and textures and we honestly can’t wait to incorporate them in our wardrobes this spring.
Let’s talk about the model of the moment now. Kendall Jenner, made her debut last season at NYFW, and made everyone talk about her once again. Having already Marc Jacobs, Givenchy and Chanel in her list, she also walked for Dianne Von Furstenberg and Tommy Hilfiger. One thing is certain, we can only sit and wait for what Kendall has to show us next.
NYFW always seems to me more like a very long party, combining fashion, photographers, celebrities, music and alcohol. No wonder it does, since together with the shows, several parties are scheduled. This September, Joseph Altuzarra celebrated his collection for Target with chic guests like Naomi Watts and Naomie Harris, while our favorite Cara Delevingne had a party for her collaboration with Mulberry with her sister Poppy to her London friend Georgia May Jagger by her side.
Backstage is always just as interesting when it comes to New York. Sure, the fashion crowd sitting at the front rows and the stunning collections on the runway can’t be compared, but who doesn’t love a good sneak-peak of all the models, the makeup and hair and the goofy moments before the show starts? All the backstage photos were absolutely delightful!
We saw many “naked” looks with the sheer, flowing materials used by the designers, but we’re kind of used to that. Who expected though, to see the models at the Marc Jacobs show without any makeup on? I know we didn’t. The beauty trends straight from the runway define the way we will do our makeup next season. So, what do the bare-faced models mean? Is this the beginning of a new era in fashion? Whatever the case, we sure can’t wait to see more innovations in London, Milan and Paris!
