“Caovillas” as they are known, are the pinnacle of women’s footwear, and if
Italian footwear has a reputation for being the best, certainly this brand
does its bit to sustain that reputation.

Rene Caovilla’s creations marry craftsmanship with couture: heels are light
and feathery, adorned with frills – ribbons and stones, laces and beads,
exotic fruits and Swarovskis.

It all began with Edoardo, the father of Rene, whose wife would embroider
shoes by hand in a small laboratory of the North-East of Italy. In the
Fifties his son Rene traveled to Paris and London and shortly after took on
the family business, which is now managed by his soon: Edoardo.

Since then we’ve seen Jennifer Aniston, Heidi Klum, Nikki Reed and Kristen
Stewart walk the red carpet with Caovilla’s bejeweled heels.

If you want something you can wear any evening of the year and you like
black and classic shapes then your must-have Caovilla is the pearly
embroidered lace open-toe pump.

Of course you can also order custom-made creations, the creative genius of
this brand seems to be endless. Did you know that on the 10th September
2007, Harrods hired a live Egyptian cobra to protect the shoe counter,
guarding a pair of haute couture ruby, sapphire and diamond encrusted
sandals created by the maison?
