Nicki Minaj delivered an exciting performance of her new song Anaconda at the MTV Video Music Awards 2014 this past week. However, the performance was not without some controversy which is usually what Ms. Minaj is after! Here are the highlights from her performance.
Wardrobe Malfunction
During the performance of her song, Nicki Minaj suffered a wardrobe malfunction. Her costume featured painted-on snake scales and she was struggling to hold the very short and low-cut dress in place as she performed. As a result, fans on Twitter assumed that she was having a wardrobe malfunction and begin to spread this news on Twitter. Pictures on Twitter show Nicki Minaj literally holding her dress together as she performed.
Snake Bite
Before the performance even started, a huge scandal had already broken out regarding an incident that occurred at a VMA rehearsal. During this rehearsal of Nicki Minaj’s performance, one of the backup dancers was bitten by a six foot long snake. The snake was a Dumeril’s boa constrictor named Rocky. The snake had been working for entertainment purposes for more than 15 years when it bit the dancer on her arm. Nicki quickly went to the dancer to check if she was okay and fortunately the dancer’s injuries were not serious.
The dancer was treated at the scene and the wound was determined to be non-life-threatening. However, this incident prompted the performance to be modified so that the snakes would no longer be part of the performance.
